Is it worth it to join findateacher.com.au if i already get work as a supply teacher?
When supply teachers become part of the findateacher system their exposure to schools is as wide as they would like. The findateacher system allows teachers to register interest in teaching in as many schools as they wish in and out of their region and in and out of the Private and State School systems if they wish. So Yes it expands their possibilities and increases their chances of gaining more bookings.
From my experience I have found that when teachers are introduced and invited to join the findateacher system they tend to join. It is so easy to register and the initial investment of $49 is so small compared to the benefits that if it only gains them just one booking @ $280.00 as you would at least expect that represents a return of over 570% on their investment!
Do schools save money by using the findateacher system?
In relation to schools even though they may be happy with the status quo, is their system the most efficient, up to date, time and cost saving available?
I did a case study looking at the costings outlayed when a senior teacher such as a Principal or Deputy Principal spent just 19 minutes organising relief teachers. If you break down their salary to that time that it may take to book relief teachers it adds up fairly quickly.
Senior staff earn about $80,000+ per annum over a 40 week school year that is $2,000+ a week @ 40 hours is about $50.00+ per hour. When you consider, by the time they receive the notification of a relief teacher need and locate the lists and start calling around explaining the class needs, timetables, yard duties, etc sometimes not knowing who they are talking to it may take for avg 1.5 teachers some 30 mins to complete a booking. At around $25.00+ per each half hour not to mention mobile calls etc at $1.50+ per call this would easily build to $28.00+ with just 2 calls. Sometimes calls are made at home where out of school time would be more valuable say time and a half or double time making this more expensive ie that "lifestyle choice" time....what is that worth?.
So it can be argued that if our rate were $9.90 it would be about a third of what they would normally spend. This over a week assuming an average of 1.5 bookings a day for a week is equivalent to a minimum saving of over $135.75 per week which equates @ 40 weeks a school year to a saving of $5,430.00.00+ per annum. This could be better spent in other areas of need within the school and or community.
Imagine the savings made when special promotion offers are made available.
In addition with the automatic document exchanges schools can better inform relief teachers easily of the needs of the school and students at no additional effort or cost.
Have records of bookings and the ability to choose the best suited teacher for the situation usually from a larger pool of teachers.
Thus better catering for the most important clientelle of the school ...the students.
What are your regular fees to schools?
www.findateacher.com.au and www.findateacherNZ.com are national booking systems based on extensive data bases and search engines and do incur costs. It is our policy to keep these at a minimum. Our system saves time and resources. The amount of savings made particularily in time as a consequence of using this system makes our pricing very reasonable.
- Registration is at no cost to schools
- SMS calls made as a result of the booking process are at no cost to the school.
- Schools booking a Teacher incur a fee for the service www.findateacher.com.au provides.
- This applies to bookings made and confirmed by SMS or those made and contacted via the alternative phone system

As a Relief Teacher how does the text messaging system work?
For those Teachers that have completed their Registration process and are verified are active and could receive bookings at any time.
- They need to ensure that their mobile phone is charged, handy and or their landline phone is available ready for the bookings to come in.
- If texed on a mobile phone they will receive this message: "Find a teacher booking request. School: Eyres Rock Test School, Ayres Rock Desert, Y7MrsRock, Date: 2/3/2005. Time: all day Reply YES or NO."
- You simply text back "YES" or "NO" and the booking is either confirmed or cancelled for you.
- For urgent bookings the message will also state "Reply in 5 mins". For Bookings that are not so urgent will be accompanied with the phrase "Reply in 24 hours".
- If called on a land line or called by voice on your mobile then you will be able to speak directly to the booking school or person and note the details.
